Death Star Laser can track and destroy mosquitoes in mid-flight

At last year's TED conference, Bill Gates unleashed a jar of live mosquitoes during his talk in order to make a point about the problems of malaria. This year, it was former Microsoft CTO Nathan Myhrvold who was on stage demonstrating his plan to use lasers to shoot mosquitoes out of the sky as part a malaria-eradication project. Myhrvold demonstrated a “Death Star” laser gun designed to track and shoot mosquitoes in flight. The device was crafted from parts purchased on eBay by scientists at Myhrvold’s Intellectual Ventures Laboratory. The laser lights quickly located the mosquitoes in flight and it can kill them in mid flight. This could be amazing solution to control the insect’s population in regions where malaria is present.
